Graphic Novel Review: Cosplayers

Image
I picked up this graphic novel because it was highlighted as one of the employee's favorites. The rest of the books on that shelf were thick dramatic novels and then I saw this one, a totally different book: I couldn't resist. I am not a cosplayer, but I enjoy watching them at comic book conventions.  I know enough about comic books to be able to enjoy the references in this book. I also know enough about comic book conventions to be able to see myself in their place. Overall, the book was a little bizarre, and it showed a side of comic cons that we don't usually see but know it's there. The book is divided into chapters that are stand alone and give more insight into the two main character's lives. I don't know if I can recommend this book. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it's for everyone. cheers!

Graphic Novel Review: Sweet Tooth

Image
I had read good things about Sweet Tooth  and decided to give it a chance. It was a good thing they had all volumes at my nearest public library. Sweet Tooth  is set in a post-apocalyptic world were most of humanity died of some sickness and in result, the new humans being born did so with some kind of animal deformity. So, kids born after that were part animal (mammals). Our main character is part deer and is apparently too old to have been born when the virus started, so there's one mystery right there. The world is dying and the last of humanity is looking for these mutant kids because they don't get sick. Enter Sweet Tooth. In the beginning he lives hidden in the woods with his dad, until he dies and leaves him alone. It's when he ventures out into the real world that we learned that humanity is now corrupted in their attempts to survive. The story is, in general, a little saw, but the writing kept me hooked. I will definitely be picking up volume ...
