Book Review: The Passion of Cleopatra

"The Passion of Cleopatra" is the sequel to Anne Rice's 1989's "The Mummy or Ramses the Damned", which I read over a decade ago. I remember really liking The Mummy, especially the part with Cleopatra rising from the dead.  Now, "The Passion of Cleopatra" was not only written by Anne Rice, but also her son, Christopher Rice. Christopher has been trying to make it into the world of books, like his mom... and I don't blame him. I mean, I'm trying to get into the world of book publishing, as well, and I applaud his efforts. What I wouldn't give to have a famous author for a mom, right? While I have fond memories of the first book, the second book didn't really give me much of anything. It does start exactly where the first left off and we are introduced to some new characters; some immortals much older than Ramses, the one who created the elixir of immortality among them. Thoughts: Nightwish, Best Band Ever

If you have never heard of Nightwish, you are missing out. Seriously, it is band from Finland who just blows me away. It's a Symphonic Metal band, which means the singer is Opera trained and the band plays metal instruments. Although, more and more they incorporate the entire symphony and even chorus to some of their songs. Nightwish was created by songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. He is the mastermind behind the band. His music is so original many have tried to copy him. He started Nightwish together with his friend Tarja Turunen, who trained as an opera signer and began as Nightwish's lead singer. Tarja and Tuomas Together they released 5 albums since the band started in 1996. Later Tarja and Tuomas had a disagreement, which resulted in her leaving the band. The next two albums were released with the voice of Annette Olzon, until she too, left the band. Currently, it is Floor Jansen who is the lead singer. Nightwish has released a total of 8 a...
