Book Review: Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles #2)

Image
The sequel to Cinder  introduces a new character, Scarlet. The second installment to the Lunar Chronicles was just as great as the first. I got the book and read it in a week, which is unlike me (I usually read one book a month). It reminded me of what I felt like when I discovered The Selection series . Although their genres as different, I couldn't put it down either. I can tell The Lunar Chronicles  is a well-planned series of books by Marissa Meyer. Just like the first book is based on Cinderella, the second is based on Little Red Riding Hood. Loosely  based. *⚠️ Warning: If you haven't read Cinder  I suggest you stop reading now because I'm about to write some spoilers * Cinder left us when the title character is imprisoned with a chance to escape. When she does we meet a new character (and one of my favorites), Cromwell Thorne. Thorne is a bit like Han Solo (in many ways), and he's just funny and a pleasure to read. Book Review: Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1)

Oh my goodness where has this book been hiding? Cinder  is the first book in Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles and I can't say enough about it. It's wonderful, perfect! I couldn't put it down. I haven't felt this way since I read The Selection series. The writing, the characters, the plot. Everything is just perfect. And what a perfect villain, too. I just hated  her (and I'm not talking about the stepmother). This book takes from the story of Cinderella, but really it's a complex and interesting tale of politics and war and power. Cinder is a cyborg teenage girl who is a mechanic. Yes, she has a stepmother. Yes, she has the stepsisters. Yes, she is made to work and there's a prince. But, it's so much MORE. It's the future, where cars fly and there are androids and cyborgs and there are people who live on the Moon. If you haven't found this series yet, what are you waiting for? Click that link down there and go get it! You won't ...

Book Review: Artemis Fowl

Image
I finally read and finished the first book in the Artemis Fowl Series. It kinda makes me wonder if this book wasn't supposed to be a series, but then more books came from it. I know the movie is coming out at the end of the summer and I knew I couldn't postpone reading it any further. I had to know what the book with the interesting title was all about. Although I give this book five stars, it was different than other books. This is a book about a tiny war between fairies and humans. Well, I confess I couldn't decide whether I was rooting for the humans or the fairies. They each had a point, and although what the humans were doing was "wrong", I could totally identify with them and I wanted them to win . At the same time, it didn't seem fair that the fairies lost. Why would they? I enjoyed the book and it was very entertaining. I don't know if I'll read more in the series, I think one was enough. At least, it felt like it was the ending and...
