Graphic Novel Review: Saga Vol. 7

Image
It's been a while since I read Saga. It's still an excellent comic book. I check the volumes out from the public library and the reason why I hadn't read them in a while was that they didn't have the new ones. Well, this time they did and I quickly grabbed volume 7. The entirety of these issues has our two rebels living on a planet (I think it's a planet), Phang. If you haven't read the series, this comic book is about an intergalactic war between two planets. One relies mostly on technology and the other on magic. The two of them have been fighting for many, many years. I don't think the young soldiers even understand why they are supposed to hate the other race. So, a little like Romeo and Juliet, a girl from one planet falls in love with a guy from the other planet. They are both soldiers, but that doesn't stop them. Then, the unexpected happens: they procreate. The entire story is told as memories of her.  The best thing I like about this...

Graphic Novel Review: I Hate Fairy Land #2

This series keeps getting better and better. It's dark, I can tell you that. Definitely not for children. The main character has no morals and she does things no hero  would do. It's still fun in a weird  way to read and find out the unexpected had happened. Like, there are no consequences to her actions, and so she's truly free  to do WHATEVER she wants. I don't know, I'm still having a great time reading this, it's out-of-the-box and I like being surprised. Although, it's not for everyone. My husband couldn't enjoy it. He kept thinking about how wrong  some things were. But, that's what I like about it. It's like taking chances  with some things that people expect to happen until they don't. If you haven't given this graphic novel a chance, you definitely should. But be warned, it's not for everybody. I still have volume three waiting in my to-be-read-pile. Cheers! Audio Book Review: Storm Front (Dresden Files #1) by Jim Butcher

Image
I decided to read the first book in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher as the second urban fantasy author in my research of the genre. I've heard much about the Dresden Files. I know there is an old TV show about it, too, although I never watched it. Since Dresden is mentioned often in the urban fantasy groups I belong to in Facebook, I knew the second book I would listen to in audiobook form would be this one. I don't like reading long series. I like series that are three or four books long, so I knew from the get-go that I wouldn't be going through all the series in this title. Now that I listened to the first book, I think I am going to continue the series, although this time, I'm going to get the ebook or paperback. It may be some time next year. Harry Dresden is the main character in this series and he is a wizard. The audiobook had the added bonus of being narrated by James Marsden, who I really like. The book is written in the first person, ...
