Book Review: War Storm (Red Queen #4)

Image
I have too many mixed feelings about this book. This is the fourth and last book in this series, and I was disappointed. The final book was long. Too long. Too bad. The first book, The Red Queen , is an amazing book. I loved it so much. Then I read the second one and was disappointed. But then I met the author and bought the last two books at a signing. I read the third one and was captivated by Maven, the main antagonist. I wanted to know how it ended. I wasn't pleased. The author didn't do what she could have done for her characters. The story was slow and dragging, with a lot of people talking (and complaining about this or that) instead of using their powers, which was what attracted me to the book in the first place. There were politics, but not convincing enough. When I finished the book I knew it would be a hard story to tell. I knew. I hoped to be proved wrong. My daughter got bored with the book and just forgot about it. I kept going, but it ...

Audiobook Review: Riley Mack and the Other Known Troublemakers

I got this audiobook for free in the included two free original titles when you subscribe to Audible. Every month I am given choices and sometimes (or is it every time?) I get offered kid audiobooks. Since I have two kids, ages 10 and 12, I always think we could listen to them during our long trips or something. So far, I have selected 3 or 4. There are several things going on in this story, with Riley Mack being the leader of the group that frequently goes undercover to solve a crime . A bit like a junior Mission Impossible . ...

Video Game Review: Skyrim

Let's talk about Skyrim . It's an old game, I know. About a decade old.  To me, it's the beginning of an era. It opened the world of gaming in more ways than one. For one, I exclusively played Legend of Zelda games since I married. The last game I played on the Playstation was Final Fantasy VIII, and after that, I got a GameCube, a Wii, a Wii U, and a Switch. I even bought a 3DS to play A Link Between Worlds . For years that's all I played, Zelda Games. I played and replayed Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and  Twilight Princess (and even Skyward Sword , once). I then finished Breath of the Wild , twice.  I also didn't play much. Only two or three hours each weekend. My husband wasn't a gamer and that left very little playing time for me.  Before the Switch, when I finished Twilight Princess  the second time, I felt I needed to try something different, but still open world. So I researched online for games a Zelda fan would enjoy. Skyrim ...
