An Overwhelmed Creative

  What a great story! I had read Marie Lu's Legend series and loved it. Now that I finished Warcross  with the second book,  Wildcard , I have a new favorite.  I just love her characters. The plot for this story was so well crafted. I confess I did guess the "twist" in the first and second book, but I didn't see the ending coming. It was so much fun to read this book. The love story is important, and yet not the focus of the book. There's something about Marie Lu's couples that makes them special. They just make sense and the relationship between the two main characters is essential to the story. The idea of the internet and virtual reality were well done, too. Not like Ready Player Two. I thought in Warcross , the ending actually made sense (sorry, not a fan of RP2, LOL) I truly recommend this series. It was just two books, but that was enough for me.   I had heard about this book before. I even remember the contest where they asked children to illustrate the book (the illustrations are wonderful, by the way). I just never picked it up. In fact, it disappeared from my radar at some point. But then we went on vacation with some friends and my friend was reading it. She had gotten in from her birthday. She read it in one day, so I asked if she recommended it. Her reply wasn't clear, but she suggested I read it to see for myself. So I read it, and found it to be an insufferable book. It was like reading a whole book with Dolores Umbridge as the main character. Good characters were introduced and then killed. Oh yes, many many people die in this book. And no matter what the good people do, bad things kept happening to them.  I began to lose hope. But I continued reading this well plotted story with wonderful language until I got to the end.
