Book Review: The Institute

I can't say I'm a Stephen King fan, but I have enjoyed a lot of his books. I've read quite a bit, but not all of his books. My favorite, by far, is It . I was a bit disappointed by the end of the Dark Tower saga, but then I read The Outsider  and I really liked it. So I had to try The Institute . It wasn't as good as The Outsider . It felt like an idea he had and he created a world around it. It was an interesting idea, but it was too long for my taste. Especially the part that happened in the institute. The story began with a man. A man who would disappear for about half the book. So much that I had to go back to remember what his name was when he showed up again. His story was good. A great book beginning and then... poof! He was gone. The cruelty of the institute was also too long. I could have had less of it. And then the ending... it wasn't very plausible. There were too many things that didn't make sense. I don't know. Definitely not my favorite one. T...

Audio Book Review: Born a Crime

I got recommendations to read this book from two good friends and I just had to get it. I listened to the audiobook during my commute. I like it when the author himself reads their book, especially when they are public figures. It was an interesting tale of a life in a place I don't really know myself. It is a dangerous world filled with ignorance, racism, and discrimination.  There are a lot of lessons in this book. I personally don't have a stomach for unfairness and unjust events, especially when they are real. In the world we live in and the news all around us, I felt Trevor Noah is still an optimist even under the events that happened in his life. We truly are how we decide to look at the world. I recommend his book. There is a lot to learn from it. As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases.
