Book Review: The Cleaner

Image
I read this book because of who the author is. Mark Dawson is the creator of SPF University, the school of thought I follow when it comes to independently publishing books. I have bought many of the courses he offers, and even if they haven't worked for me and my genre yet, I don't loose hope. I respect him and thank him for sharing what has worked for him. I know he makes a lot of money selling his books, so when he released a special edition of his first in series, The Cleaner , I couldn't resist. Now, he lives in the UK and I live in the US, but he was kind enough to send us American peeps his book. I paid for it, of course, and it arrived signed by him. It made me happy. Finally, I sat down and read it. I confess it isn't the great book. It wasn't what I thought it was about, either. But it gave me hope that his first book wasn't that great and he is still very, very successful in the industry. Maybe that can happen to me too (or maybe not, whatever right? ...

Audio Book Review: The Android's Dream

This was a very interesting book. At first, I couldn't make sense of it. Later, it reminded me of books like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. These are the type of books my husband really enjoys. Me? Not so much, but this book kept me going because it had a great dilemma I couldn't solve for myself.  It's set in the future and it also gave me a bit of a Star Trek  vibe at times. It was fun. A satisfying ending, as well. I really recommend this book. You won't be disappointed. Cheers!   As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Audio Book Review: Born in Fire

I chose this book with an Audible credit as a result of my search for urban fantasy.  I write urban fantasy, but I don't read a lot of urban fantasy. I read good things about this books and author and I decided to give it a chance. There are vampires and werewolves and elves and other mythological creatures in this book. I felt the number of creatures and characters was well managed. The story was a bit slow and not many things happened, but the banter between our protagonist and her vampire partner in the case they're trying to solve is the best thing. The narrator did a great job, too. The way she changed her voice for each character was very impressive. Finally, the reveal was unexpected. I didn't really see it coming. I tried to guess, but failed. Overall, it was a good book, but it was a bit boring at parts and for some reason, I had a bit of trouble visualizing where the action was happening. I don't know. Maybe I fell asleep during the narration or... Cheers! As ...

Video Game Review: Link's Awakening (Switch)

I enjoyed this game, but not as much as the other Zelda games. I remembered I played this one as a child. Back then, we didn't have walkthroughs and we had to figure stuff out on our own. I beat the game, at least I remember that, and I enjoyed it. This time around, as an adult who has played many Zelda games, I'm not that patient. I did figure a lot of things on my own, but honestly, I used a walkthrough for two things. The first one was the trading sequence (which was driving me insane). The second one was for one of the dungeons. It was too complicated for me (I'm not that smart) and I was starting to loose the enjoyment. Besides that, it's still a fun game that looks pretty cute with the round anime-type characters. The bosses overall aren't that hard, but not easy, either—which is important for me in a game. A good blast from the past, but definitely not a top 5 Zelda game for me. Cheers! As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases
