Book Review: Skyward (Skyward #1)

I read this book because it kept popping up everywhere. I had read Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn  and loved it. I never read the other books because I felt Mistborn  was a self-contained book on its own.  My parents always ask me what I want for Christmas, and  Skyward  was one of those books. The book is well written and planned. I guess the best thing about this book for me was that few books surprise me. This one did. I thought and I thought what the twist  could be, and I never figured it out! The main character was ok, but her relationship with her flight leader, to me, was the best thing in the book! (Well, that and M-Bot. So cool!) I rarely read sci-fi anymore, but this book was totally worth it. I will even read all four of them when they come out (I rarely have the stamina to read so many books in one series . . . nor the time to read them).  If you like YA and sci-fi, you will definitely appreciate Skyward . Audiobook Review: A Promised Land

An interesting biography of President Obama's life before his presidency and during this first term. I enjoyed Michelle Obama's book, and I was excited for this one, as well. I was not disappointed. Just like Becoming, A Promised Land is narrated by Obama himself. He tells of his life, his family, his presidency, and his struggles to try to help the American people the best way he knew how.  It was long, but in the beginning of the book, Obama explains how he wanted to explain why and how his decisions came to be.
