Thoughts: The Worlds We Live In

  I wanted to write a bit about certain thoughts I've been having recently. We live in a world that has a lot of output, and there is so much to choose from, isn't it? Just take television alone. When I was growing up (in the 80s), I could never imagine to have SO many shows about the things that I liked!  I remember when the X-Men movies came out. Back then, very few people knew who the X-Men were. They knew Superman and Batman, but the X-Men? I felt like the X-Men movie was the best thing that happened to me! I did! I had read the comics (lots of them), and I knew all the back stories. I even felt like I was superior  to most people because they only got what was in the movies, but I knew much more. I was the queen! LOL (yeah, I wasn't that smart back then). And look at the superhero universe right now. It has exploded, hasn't it? Book Review: Project Hail Mary

This one is, hands down, the best book I've read all year. I've heard about it—and I had already read The Martian a few years back—but I had no idea how good it was going to be.  I got it for my birthday and couldn't wait to start it . . . and then I couldn't stop. I don't want to give too much away because part of my enjoyment was the discovery journey. The story is told in a mix of present events and back-flashes, which come slowly (and there's a reason for that). But let's just say that our main character is in space and there's a reason he's there and there's a good reason why he doesn't remember. There is a big problem to solve, and as the book blurb says, our main character will meet a most unlikely ally.  This ally is nothing like I could have imagined, and I confessed I spent many a sleepless night trying to figure out how in the world they were going to work together.
