Book Review: Matched (#1)

I was excited about the premise of this book. So I took a chance and started the trilogy thinking I would finish it whatever happened. It's a bit of a big deal because I rarely take on series at all. I do, but they have to be worth it and they have to be short. I don't think I could ever again read a 7 part book like the Harry Potter series, if you know what I mean. Life is short and is only getting shorter.

The first book in the Matched series was interesting at first. The post-apocalyptic world intrigued me. The character started off as a part of the normal and slowly became an anomaly due to several things that happened in the story.

But then... nothing really happened. She never really "fought" to be free. I felt like I kept waiting for something to happen. And I guess it did. Something happened. Something not that exciting. And that was the end of the book.

The book is also one of those love triangle tropes, so girl needs to choose between two boys. And that was ok. But it was just... not that exciting either.

Matched was still well written and I hope the next two books offer some answers. For now, I was a little underwhelmed by Matched, but it hooked me enough to keep on reading.

Graphic Novel Review: Batman, Volume 1: The Court of Owls

For those who don't know, my favorite comic character is Batman and Scott Snyder captured the Batman I love close to perfection in this reboot of the Batman series for the New 52. Truly an amazing writer! Not only was it wonderfully written, but the art of Greg Capullo (who, if I remember correctly, I first met when I read X-Force back in the 90s) was superb! Truly a fantastic duo. Which makes me think how many of Marvel's artists have gone over to DC as they grow in popularity (Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, John Romita, Jr and Andy Kubert, to name a few). Not that I have a problem, it's been a while since I picked up an X-Family issue since lately I've found I enjoy adult graphic novels, and of course: Batman. Book Review: The One (The Selection #3)

It's been a while since a book drew me in so much, since I just couldn't stop reading. The Selection may not be a classic, but it's one of the best book series I've read. Everything just flows and even when sometimes the characters are a little immature, it's because they are. They are teenagers thrown into adult situations expecting to make adult decision. Still, our two main characters, America and Maxon, are responsible and honorable and I like that. This story feels really thought out and you can't help but enjoy it and keep reading to know how the predictable ending will actually take place. It's just a joy, I can't say it enough. Book three is the culmination of America's life at the palace as she falls in love with Prince Maxon, expecting him to love her back the way she needs him to. Videogame Review: Starfield

This is definitely not like Skyrim. I haven't played many Bethesda games, but I can tell you that I loved playing Skyrim. I played it until there was absolutely nothing else I could do. This was hundreds of hours. And then, instead of getting the next Elder Scrolls game we got: Starfield. My husband was so psyched. So much that he got me a new console and the game so that I could play it at the same time he was playing it. The game is not that  bad, but there are a lot of things that I don't enjoy. 1) The doors. They take so long to open and close 2) The random visiting of NPC to deliver messages or things that makes me run like a crazy person through galaxies. Can't they just send a message? Or a text? Or an email? *sigh* 3) The unlimited items that I can collect that I never use or don't want to use. I don't even know what I should be looking for half the time, and if I'm building something that requires "x" item, do I have time to go looking for it?...
