Book Review: Mexican Gothic
This was a strange book. It was creepy and mysterious. To be honest, I went into it not really knowing if it had any paranormal elements. From the description, I couldn't really tell, either. The story is about a Mexican woman who is sent by her father to investigate what happened to her cousin after receiving a strange letter. She goes to this creepy house on a hill, and everyone in there is creepy. They tell the woman, NoemÃ, that in the house, you should only speak English. Her cousin is always in her room, sleeping so much she rarely gets a chance to be with her. When she does, Noemà notices her strange behavior (because, did I notice everyone in there is creepy?) In the house, there are more creepy people. There's the cousin's husband, who looks normal, but you get a sense he is really hiding something. Her sister, a woman who is like the house keeper and who has some very strict rules (like, no one is allowed to talk during dinner), and her son, a pale introverted you...
