Book Review: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

A dear friend recommended this book, so I had to read it.

I wasn't sure what it was about, except that it was the life of an actress and that it had LGBTQ themes. The book was fantastic. The author knew what she was doing. Her writing was superb and the hook was perfect. I have a lot to learn from the author, I can tell you.

The story is a mix between present time and the memories of Evelyn Hugo, an actress that had seven husbands. I don't want to spoil the book, but I can tell you I could not put it down, and although I tried to guess at the small mystery that wasn't revealed until the end, I was not disappointed.

The story spans many decades and the way that Evelyn Hugo moves through the world of Hollywood and fame is represented through her marriages to seven men, all very different and all chosen for pre-meditated reasons. That made for a very interesting character.

I really enjoyed this book, and I think it's tied right now with Circe for the best book I read in 2022.

A great read!

Cheers!
