Book Review: Cursed

Everything was hopeless.

Cursed is the sequel to Gilded (and the end of the series), and I can tell you I never felt such hopelessness.

One of my friends gave it 3 stars just for how much she suffered through the book.

My mom can't finish reading it because she can only handle a few pages at a time before getting depressed or sad.

And yes. I agree. Everything goes wrong ALL the time and the bad guy is always winning.

The only thing that kept me going is that the author likes happy endings, and I could hope. But there were several times I thought the happy ending wouldn't happy. Or that whatever happened in the end wouldn't fit my definition of happy ending.

It was a great book and a very smart retelling, but it was though to read, I have to agree.

A lot of people died, and they don't come back! Now, that is dark! If you've read the lunar chronicles, you know it's not as dark. That series has more of a Star Wars feel. Not Gilded and Cursed, this duology is not for the faint of heart.
