Rambling from a Gamer Mom: More Games and DLCs I Want to Play

There are so many games out there and more and more come up each month. Sometimes I feel like I won't be able to play them all in my life time.

This truly is the era of creators. We can publish our books, our art, our videos, and even video games.

I love being a creator, but I also love being a consumer, too. There are so many awesome things out there, I wish I had more time to consume it all.


What Else Is Coming That I Want to Play?


Jedi: Survivor

This caught me completely by surprise. I was not expecting this. I recently played Jedi: Fallen Order and was blown away by the story line (and that ending!). I definitely did not expect a sequel to this character's story. Wow! Just wow! Sign me up!








Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores

I usually don't play DLCs if I have already finished the game, but I will for this DLC. The only problem is that they announced it will only be available for the PS5 and still haven't found one. Sad, I know. But I can't wait to go back to Aloy's story and the great game play. I know there has to be third installment to  this title because of the way the sequel ended. Keep them coming!











Final Fantasy XVI Release Date

Last I wrote about the games I want to play in 2023, I listed this one. Back then it didn't have a release date, which meant it may not be available until after 2023. But I was so glad to hear it now has a release date of June 2023! The great big releases for me this year are not Hogwarts Legacy, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and Final Fantasy 16. 


I wonder what other surprises developers have for us later in the year.

My children got this award winning graphic novel by author/illustrator Cece Bell for Christmas from my brother and his wife. They usually are spot on with the books they get for my kids and when I saw my eight year old son reading this book over and over I just had to see what it was about. El Deafo is almost like the author's memoir of growing up deaf, her struggles, her thoughts and how she wanted to fit into society even when she was different. The characters are all bunnies and the main character, Cece (just like the author), wasn't born deaf. After getting sick she looses her hearing and then need hearing aids to be able to listen to the world around her. Through the book, Cece goes through different friends, all understanding what it means to be her in a different way. Cece, through it all, imagines herself as a superhero, "El Deafo", because she reads Batman comic books and she thinks of her hearing aid as one of Batman's gadgets.  The book...

Video Game Review: Hyrule Warriors—Age of Calamity

  I am a Zelda fan. I confess I haven't played ALL of the games, but I've played most of them. Some of my favorites are A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess. My favorite of all is Breath of the Wild. I love the puzzles, the maps, the artifacts, and the sword. Oh, how I love the sword. Since Ocarina of Time, I have loved the 3D experience—even if it took me a while to get used to the moving camera. But that was back then. I'm a pro now! I loved the simple yet powerful story they crafted in Breath of the Wild, and when they announced Hyrule Warriors would have the prequel of that story, I knew I had to play it. My brother gifted me this game for my birthday and the first thing I did was give it to my son (because I was playing Final Fantasy VII and XV at the time). He didn't finish it. Book Review: Children of Virtue and Vengeance

  I'm not sure what to say about this book. I guess I'll start by saying how well written it is. The language, the plot. It's well crafted. I appreciate that, for sure. Book one ended in a cliffhanger, and the second book starts right after one ends.  But everything that happens is bad. Sad. And then some more bad happens. All of the main characters are always arguing and bickering with each other. They all want the same things, and they are all good, but they don't listen to each other and they make everything worse because they're vain or proud or whatever. That made for a very depressing and frustrating read. Not that it was a good book, it was just that I felt helpless reading it. It came to a point when I wasn't enjoying it anymore. I couldn't. Perhaps it was my mood. Because it's what's happening around in the world, but nothing good happened in this book.
