Book Review: Fairy Tale

Golly! It took me two months to finish this book. I usually enjoy books by Stephen King, but this one was the exception.

The story is split in two. The first part of the book was amazing. Great character development and build up to something that was coming that promised to be wonderful.

Unfortunately, it wasn't so. Once the "fantasy" part started, I couldn't seem to read more than two or three pages without falling asleep.

I understood how King loves his Dark Tower idea of "There are more worlds than this", but the way he shifts his language use and writing style when he is writing characters and stories in that world, just isn't for me.

I swear next time I have trouble falling asleep, I'll take out my Kindle and read a couple of pages of Fairy Tale. Sounds horrible, I know.

The fantasy world just wasn't interesting, and the too many character introductions made it confusing. Also, he didn't get me to care about any of the characters. The ending, as I've found to be in King's stories, had a quick and easy solution to the problem. Now that I write and my editor gets onto me if things don't have an explanation... well, my editor wouldn't have liked this story. Too many plot holes and things you just had to believe because of... well, just because.

Now, it may not have been a good fit for me, but it was for my husband. He says he really enjoyed this one. So, although this is one of the few books I read that I can't really recommend, know that there are people who would.

Cheers!
Claudia
