Videogame Review: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition

I was unsure at first about Tomb Raider.

When I was younger, I played the first Tomb Raider and I remember I didn't like it all that much. I was alone, it seems since the videogame was wildly popular. So much they made movies about it with Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

When I finished Horizon Zero Dawn, I needed something else to play. My husband convinced me to try Tomb Raider. And so, I started with the first one available for the PS4: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.

It took me a while to get used to it. I started it and realized it was a bit too stressful for me. I didn't play for a few weekends because I was afraid of getting stressed out like I had the first two times I played it. But alas, I went back and after a few more hours of gameplay, I became addicted.

I started to understand what else I could do apart from just shooting bad guys. I began to use all weapons in my arsenal, and not just the bow (my favorite). Not only that, playing it was like watching a really cool action movie, except I was the main character. It was an amazing feeling.

Not everything was perfect. I died a lot, but the reload screen didn't take as long as with The Witcher or Skyrim. If I died, I could just try again in a matter of minutes starting from the exact point where I'd died. Rarely did I have to go back more than a few seconds of play. I liked that a lot.

I finished the game in about a month and I'm now playing the second one.

Highly recommended game. It's old, but excellent.

Cheers!
