Audiobook Review: The Getaway

Image
This is one of those free Audible originals I downloaded at some point. I ran out of credits for the month and gave it a go. It's a short thriller that left me wanting more. I did get a bit stressed out, but it was all too convenient and the protagonist should have ran away from there from the start because nothing made sense.  After it was too late and she was trapped, then the story moved quickly. They explained everything promptly and the story ended, albeit a bit rushed. But it was a short story and I still enjoyed it.  Cheers! As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases

Audiobook Review: Sabriel

I have heard about this book from several people in several reading groups. I confess I've been tempted to read it for a while. I even looked it up several times but always decided to read something else instead.  But then someone mentioned the audiobook was narrated by Tim Curry, so I used my credit to get it and I listened to it right away. I loved the story and language. The character Sabriel was well written. A normal young girl with the necromancer ability. Her father is the Abhorsen, which is a bit like the master necromancer who keeps the death in line. In this story, whenever someone dies, they need to go through nine gates. And it isn't until you've crossed the ninth gate that you are truly dead. Young Sabriel is about to graduate from school when her father appears to give her the Abhorsen's gear. Since she knows something's happened to her father, she sets out to look for his body to try to bring him back to life. During her journey, she must cross the ...

Videogame Review: Shadow of the Tomb Raider

I don't know what to say except for, WOW! The third installment of the Lara Croft series is the best one yet. I had my reservations in the beginning, especially because it took me forever to kill the first panther I needed to kill after coming out of a hole, but that was only a one time thing. I did struggled sometimes with other scenarios, but I actually developed strategies, can you believe it? Without looking at a guide! This game is A LOT about stealth, which I enjoyed. The other two games had stealth, too, but it felt like this one was more like you NEEDED to kill the enemies while the rest weren't looking if you wanted to continue on the quests. The story was good and I loved all that culture all around and the fact that I could get the NPC to speak in their native tongue. Pretty cool! The gameplay was great. Still looks like an action movie all the time. It's phenomenal. I only missed my fire arrows, which I had, but since they aren't as important I didn...

Book Review: Rose Madder

This is an old book by Stephen King that my husband had been recommending for a few years now. I decided to use one of my Audible credits to get it. Of course my husband told me hearing it wouldn't be the same as reading it, but I listened to all the 17+ hours anyway. 😏 To be honest, it started a bit like that movie with Jennifer Lopez, or the one with Ashley Judd, or even the one with Julia Roberts (Sleeping with the Enemy? Don't remember the other movie names) So, the main character (Rose... or Rosie) marries an abusive man (who is also a cop) who hits her so horribly she's dying on the inside (and I mean physically), until one day she decides to escape. She does, starts her life over and the crazy husband does everything in his power to find her and kill her. The guy is crazy. And I mean REALLY crazy. He even kinda knows he's crazy.  The guy (Norman) is so mean that he's barely even human. To be honest, I didn't want to listen to the chapters from his poin...
