Video Game Review: Jedi Fallen Order

Before I start this review, I need to say that, apart from everything I may have to say about this game, this is one of the most EPIC endings in video game history. I mean, WOW.

I finished this game in 16+ hours, which is not that much compared to the average 100 hours I spend playing games like Witcher, Horizon Zero Dawn, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, etc.

One thing that may have led to such a short time, is that I started this game on the normal difficulty level and soon got frustrated by it. Like some games I've played recently, the "normal" level is pretty advanced. In the case of Jedi Fallen Order, I would need to move along a ways before finding a saving point. So it would turn 15 minutes of journey into an almost one hour if I died right before I reached the new saving point.

I understand I was able to move that setting. Well, if that's true, I didn't. Soon in the game, I moved the difficulty to easy (Story Mode). It was okay, not SUPER easy, but at least I didn't die so many times. In the penultimate level, I did become too overpowered, but that was ok, too. It let me enjoy everything else (and did I mention the ending was EPIC?).

Something else thing that drove me crazy was the map. It was complicated and in 3D. Sometimes, even after finishing the quest, it would take me a while to go back to the ship trying to figure out HOW to get back to continuing the story.

The game play was great. I actually liked it a lot. I liked the lightsaber battles. I loved how they incorporated the force into it too. Sometimes, I wished for a long range weapon, but then I wouldn't really be a Jedi, would I?

Now, other times (or many times), the dialogue wouldn't be in synch with the animation. Weird, right? It would synch and unsynch for no reason. I never figured out how to fix it without exiting the game. Other than that, the game didn't have any other bugs that I could see, which was great.

But the best part of this game is the story. Wow. I loved the story so, so much. Cal Kestis, a young Padawan who escaped Order 66 and is trying to survive without being found years after the fall of the Jedi was great. And then the story behind the Ninth sister? Awesome. In fact, I should have played this game before watching the Obi Wan Kenobi series on Disney+.

I recommend this game most of all for its story, although playing with that lightsaber and using the force was pretty cool, too.

Cheers!
