Book Review: The Hating Game

What a fun book! Can't wait to see the movie adaptation. After reading Marissa Meyer's  Cursed , I needed something light and fun, and The Hating Game  by Sally Thorne was just what I needed. It was a wholesome story, with great characters and dialogue. The story was super predictable, but that was an asset, since that was what I needed. So I loved it. My only complaint was the long and detailed "sex" scenes. Although *spoiler alert* they only have sex once and behind the scenes, they do a lot of explicit foreplay that lasts for pages and pages. At first it was okay, but I skipped a few of it at the end because it was just too much.  Apart from that, this was a great book. So much fun, and so wholesome. I just fell in love with Joshua Templeman.  Cheers!

Book Review: Cursed

Everything was hopeless. Cursed is the sequel to Gilded (and the end of the series), and I can tell you I never felt such hopelessness.  One of my friends gave it 3 stars just for how much she suffered through the book. My mom can't finish reading it because she can only handle a few pages at a time before getting depressed or sad. And yes. I agree. Everything goes wrong ALL the time and the bad guy is always winning. The only thing that kept me going is that the author likes happy endings, and I could hope. But there were several times I thought the happy ending wouldn't happy. Or that whatever happened in the end wouldn't fit my definition of happy ending. It was a great book and a very smart retelling, but it was though to read, I have to agree. A lot of people died, and they don't come back! Now, that is dark! If you've read the lunar chronicles, you know it's not as dark. That series has more of a Star Wars feel. Not Gilded and Cursed, this duology is not...

Video Game Review: Spiderman — Miles Morales

Image
Wow! Was I surprised with this game. Not very long, but a lot of fun! I'd heard great things about Spiderman: Miles Morales , and I had been wanting to play it for some time. I bought it last year during the Black Friday Sale (it was less than $20, if I remember). But there were other games in the queue before I got to it. I was NOT disappointed. It did take me a few days to get used to the controls, but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed web-swinging, running up buildings, and taking care of bad guys without being seen. All fun. The energy combat twist was cool, too. The game map is a map of Manhattan, and you need to complete the main mission mostly. There are side quests where you need to find all treasure chests or all sounds or whatever. Those are fun. You get to warp through the NYC subway system most of the time, which makes it faster to get from one place to the other, but swinging your way through the city is pretty neat, too. The story is fantastic. Lately, I feel lik...
